I think that Reality shows are so popular because the purpose of entertainment is to allow the viewer to escape reality. Reality TV shows suck as Mob Wives provide a 'realistic,' real-person experience that a) ordinary TV shows can't provide and b) viewers can relate to / be appalled by. I think those shows are for the most part completely scripted. Real life does not have the plot and conspiracy and the awfulness that those shows primarily hold.
I have never seen these shows before, but I think that reality television is so popular because so many people don't like their lives and think their boring. So, they watch these shows intead of actually living themselves... because living is scary and hard. These shows sometimes glamorize life and not saying their scripted but they are edited so the viewer is influenced in a different way. People are intigued by wierd things, and for some reason we are attracted to drama... if there is no drama we make it. I want to know why we do that...Is it to make our lives more interesting, or to make us feel better about ourselves by watching someone elses troubles?
I think that these shows are scripted because the shows want high ratings. In order to get high ratings and viewings, the producers will have the actors be more dramatic, spontaneous, and interesting. If it were not for this, the shows would be uninteresting and uneventful. These shows are not realistic, but are a very good form of entertainment.
From not ever seeing these shows but knowing some information on them, why I think they are so popular is our culture today is we like to see crazy and unbelievable things happen but not to ourselves just to other people. Knowing a lot about the film business I can say that for the most part these shows are real events but there are parts that will be scripted from time to time for ratings and to keep viewers watching.
Reality shows and docu-soaps are so popular because people want to escape from their reality lives and step into a world that has even more drama and could possibly be real. I think any reality show is scripted in same way. An example would be there are no lines, but the produces make things happen to see what the reactions are.
I agree with Jacob here, People want to see crazy stuff happen to others. I would argue that the shows are heavily directed, if not scripted. Mobs would never open themselves to public for fear of being shut down by the authorities.
I believe that the characters lifestyles are real, but I think that the show does give them scripts and certain scenarios to add some "spice" to the show. Because in all reality, no one wants to watch these women go grocery shopping. Personally I find it hard to believe that someone has as much drama as these woman without some kind of script.
I think those kinds of shows give a bad name to women. They make it seem like every female in the world only cares about what everyone is sayong about them and what they're wearing. I think it is scripted and fake. These things dont generally happen in real life but then again I wouldnt know about what it's like to be married to a mobster.
I would like to know what it is about shows like this that is so entertaining to viewers. I honestly want to know what makes people watch shows like Mob Wives, Love and Hip-Hop, Basketball Wives, and Amish Mafia.
I feel like the shows are most defintely scripted because in order to get the ratings they want the show has to be interesting and in all honesty the lives of these people are probably not interesting enough to make a whole show without scripting it. Plus most "reality" shows have scripts, like Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The episode where Kim loses her ring, total fake, read about that.
I feel like these shows are scriped to the point of they just want the high ratings. So all the darama is just made up because everyone loves to see a fight on tv.
I have never seen this show but I would think that most viewers that watch the show is only for the drama it presented. I agree with previous comments that this show could have been scriped
1)They are most likely popular because it’s entertaining to our generation. People seem to like to forget their problems, and leave reality. 2)Reality TV shows can’t really be reality. Having a show won’t just flow together like that, unless people don’t know they are being recorded. Knowing that someone is watching changes everything.
Maybe America is fascinated with violence between women because many people like to view reality TV in search of the drama and excitement they lack in real life. It's more like a soap opera than real life, but that's the point.
America is fascinated with violence between women because of the drama that they bring. People like to watch the problems in other lives so they dont feel so bad about their own lives.
I agree that they are so fascinated with it because it creates drama. It definetly plays a roll in the fact that we're trying to satisfy what we dont have in our current lives.
